Traditional Christmas blancmange

 

Ingredients:

  • 8 tablespoons cornstarch

  • 1 liter of milk

  • 1 can of condensed milk

  • 1 glass (200 ml) coconut milk

  • 100 g grated coconut

  • 1 cup of sugar

  • 2/3 cup of water

  • 200g pitted prunes

Method of preparation:

Traditional Christmas blancmange

  1. Dissolve the cornstarch in the milk;

  2. Add condensed milk, coconut milk and grated coconut;
    Cook over low heat until thickened, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon;

  3. Pour the mixture into a mold with a hole in the middle (24 cm) dipped in cold water;

  4. When it cools down, take it to the fridge for like 3 hours, or until it's firm;

  5. In a pan over low heat, dissolve the sugar in the water, stirring constantly;

  6. Add the plums and cook without stirring for 10 minutes until the syrup thickens;

  7. Remove from heat and let cool;

  8. Unmold the manjar by turning the mold over a plate;

  9. Water with the syrup and garnish with the plums;

  10. Serve chilled or at room temperature.
