onion rice

 Here's a recipe for onion rice:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup basmati rice

  • 2 cups water

  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

  • Salt, to taste

  1. Rinse the rice in cold water until the water runs clear.

  2. In a medium saucepan, heat the oil over medium-high heat.

  3. Add the sliced onion to the saucepan and cook until it's soft and lightly caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.

  4. Add the rice to the saucepan and stir until it's well coated with the onion and oil mixture.

  5. Pour in the water and season with salt.

  6. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and cover the saucepan with a tight-fitting lid.

  7. Let the rice cook for 18-20 minutes, or until the water has been absorbed and the rice is tender.

  8. Turn off the heat and let the rice sit for 5-10 minutes with the lid on.

  9. Fluff the rice with a fork and serve hot.
