Here's a recipe for onion rice:
Ingredients:
1 cup basmati rice
2 cups water
1 medium onion, thinly sliced
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Salt, to taste
Instructions:
Rinse the rice in cold water until the water runs clear.
In a medium saucepan, heat the oil over medium-high heat.
Add the sliced onion to the saucepan and cook until it's soft and lightly caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.
Add the rice to the saucepan and stir until it's well coated with the onion and oil mixture.
Pour in the water and season with salt.
Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and cover the saucepan with a tight-fitting lid.
Let the rice cook for 18-20 minutes, or until the water has been absorbed and the rice is tender.
Turn off the heat and let the rice sit for 5-10 minutes with the lid on.
Fluff the rice with a fork and serve hot.
Enjoy your delicious onion rice as a side dish or as a base for a main course!
